Dear brothers and sisters! One of the most important missions of the Orthodox Church today is to uphold the peaceful co-existence of all nations on our planet. To enable a better understanding of the true values and heritage of Orthodoxy in modern circumstances the Church should use the opportunities of the Internet, so that as many people as possible may have the chance to touch the grandeur of Orthodoxy. Christ unites and saves all of us. The congregation of the Russian Orthodox Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh of the Archbishopric of Johannesburg and Pretoria testifies on South African soil to the rich spirituality, holiness and great traditions of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Russian Church is the Church of such great saints as St. Sergius of Radonezh, St. Maxim the Greek, St. Seraphim of Sarov, St. Ioann of Kronshtadt and many others. The merits of these saints consist of the fulfillment and enhancement of Orthodox spiritual traditions in Russia, started by the holy equivalent-to-apostles Vladimir and Olga in the Xth century. Today the Russian Orthodox Church, led by His Holiness Alexy II, Patriarch of Moscow and of all Russia, continues to testify to the modern world of the wealth and grandeur of Orthodox tradition. The collaboration of the Local Orthodox Churches and, especially the Sister-Churches of the Alexandrian and Moscow Patriarchates, lends a great deal of support towards the spread of Orthodoxy in the modern world. Our daily contact with the Russian Orthodox Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh shows us the best path of collaboration and communication between Local Orthodox Churches.
